Every spring for the start of trout season the Main Line Fly-Tyers club conducts a full day fly fishing clinic in the Pennsylvannia Poconos. The clinic includes seminars on selecting and rigging your equipment, fly casting instructions, fishing strategies and on-stream demonstrations of wet, nymphing and dry fly fishing. Time is allotted at the end of the day to practice what you've learned on the local streams. . This "Learn to Fly Fish Day" is free to members and open to the public for a nominal fee. The all day program includes a barbeque lunch.

The 25th Annual LTFFD is April 12, 2025


The morning begins with the basics of rod and reel setups and knots. Then moves on to cover techiques for nymphing, wet fly and dry fly fishing.

A casting demonstration will be presented prior to breaking for lunch.
A full barbeque lunch is provided. Plently to eat thanks to our volunteer chefs.



After lunch you'll be provided time for 1 on 1 coaching to develope your casting stroke.



The after sesions are on-stream lessons covering nymphing, wet fly and dry fly techniques.




The days not over. Now it's time to put your new skills to use. Time to get in the water and fish. Club members will be available to coach and help you with your newfound fishing skills.



Venue Change: This year's clinic will be at the Broadhead Creek Heritage Center. It is located on the grounds of the Forevergreen Nature Preserve. The address is:

Bordered by Brodhead Creek, the preserve protects this section of the creek. Trout fishing here has been famous for generations, and this exact stretch of the Brodhead is known as the birthplace of fly fishing in America. The creek's clear, pure waters are home to naturally reproducing native trout. Catch and release fly fishing is permitted with a PA license.
Additional fishing on the Brodhead is minutes away with access from the many Parks along Rt 191.
