So far this year I caught 7 reds ,16 coon , 5 rats ,2 mink , a bunch of possums and like 10 feral cats 1 wich laid my finger wide open . To think youre trying to let the damn thing out of the trap aand bites you the garatitude . So far I have trapped up at the trailer twice and did a fox coyote trip back in oct . and this past week a water critter trip rats , mink , coon . I got my first mink lasdt week it was quite a joy and I got my second 1 thelast day in the second to the last trap . Now we are having good trapping weather as the fox will really be out hunting on these cold nights however the coon will all be holed up till we get a warm spell . Yesterday it took me like 1/2 aday to straighten out the back of my truck as I threw everything in the back on Sunday hurrying to beat the weather . It still took me 6 hours to get home THERE WERE JAM UPS ALL THE WAY HOME . The worst I saw was on 78 it was backed up from kutztown all the way down to allentown like 20 miles . It was a 30 car pile up thnk God it was westbound .I did not get much deer hunting in as the forest roads were a sheet of ice and all the yahoos up there without 4x4 waqs not so inviting I went out SAT FOR A FEW HOURS AS THIS WAS WHEN THE DOE TAGS WERE GOOD I SAW 1 DEER COING MY WAY BUT IT MUST HAVE WINDED ME LORD KNOWS A BAR OF SOAP WAS BECOMING QUITE THE STRANGER BY THIS POINT SO THAT WAS THAT .I am going to start a new leg of one of my lines t omorrow this will be mostly water trapping with a few fox spots . I drove a few spots today and actualy saw a muskrat swimming across the creek they are still around my hopes are hi. Trapping is like a box of choclates ya never know what youre gonna get . AMERICAN BY BIRTH A FREE TRAPPER BY GOD . |

No caps my fleece cap works perfectly fine and it can get wet without alot of maintenance . The last few weeks since I ve been back from the mts has been lousy .Since I set on `12 13 I have caught only 3 coons and 3 rats no fox . This is the time of year when youre fox stes need lots of maintenance due to freeze /thaw conditions plus the rain and then all youre sets bercome a mudbowl . Also there are lots of educated fox unless you are in a unpresured area . I do not know where this area is but I heard the game comission sold a record fur takers licences this year . Monday will be the reset day after this storm blows thru I will redo all my fox sets with soybean hulls that I have left from last year this will be my trap bedding with a thin layer of my dried dirt and hopefully this will last a few nights . One can not pass up on these warm fronts and set heavy for coon last week I had out 20 coon sets and only got 3 coons in that front . The muskrat and mink go out on jan 5th but Beaver just opened on the 26th I will probably go after the beaver after the 5th as I do not have anymore room in my truck for more equipment . I am right on the fence as to getting the Jersey license its 200 but they have lots of muskrat in jersey and if I trap near my buddys house in Haddonfield it wont be that bad on the mileage and I can comute and srtilll run my fox and beaver traps as well here in Pennsy . |
