As of today I got 30 new places to trap this year . Some are fox and coon spots ,some farm ponds 4 golfcorses including whitemarsh c.c , Thanks Dr Gene I droopped youre name and I was in like Flynn . Anyway it looks like a promising season . This weekend I built a state of the art fleshing station / skinning area out in the garage .This station revolves around a fleshing system called the blue English knife and beam it has been in use since the 16th centuary fur trade it utilizes the curved English knife and the rounded beam in team to knock off the most stubborn grizzel and fat mostly on the backs of coons and beavers . They say you can do a coon in 5 minutes hey Ill be glad for 10 as long as I do not get any holes in the pelt. I am rewally anxed up to try this new system I might have to go out and get a fresh road kill coon to try it out . The smaller critters will have to be done on my old beam like muskrats , mink and such also the red fox as this beam is too large to acomidate them and besides there is no need for the English knife on these critters asthere is none of the heavy grizzel on them they can be done with the old dull knife and the old beam . I also got about20 places upstate to trap . A lot easier and it was either yes or no I did not have any Cecil B Demiles productions trying for permission that I have to go thru down here . The only no's came from places that already have given permission or they were yuppy farmers /band b people like te big pond on the way to millheim or the big marsh out on 45 by spring mills more yuppys . Anyway all the REAL farmers gave me permission plus I have all of penns creekand sinking creek and the Bald Eagel forest as well . I am planning on starting the season up there as the fur should be prime by then I wil rough skin all the critters I catch freeze them and then finish them when I get home . It looks like a great season . I want to go back up when the water critters open up on Nov 23 rd and stay up for deer season and the same thing rough skin everything freze them and finish them when I get home .
