Here we are its july the sun is high and hot yet I hear no reports about the great 17 year locust hatch back in April it was the talk of the forum but now it is seems like a figmant of some egg heads imagination . We had a 17 year locust hatch in in central P a about 5 years ago perhaps a computer geek got something mixed up . Come to think of it I have heard no talk on this forum lately let alone about the mysterious 17 year locust or any thing pertaining to fishing or anything period . |

Yeah, sorry I forgot there's Mikey too. I used my cicada ties up at the lake, the fish ate 'em. |

Touchy touchy it seems the hot weather is getting someone ruffled even though the mysterious cicada hatch is still mysterious despite the high summer like temperatures . B ack 5 years ago when the tangibel cicada hatch was on it was well under way by this time in central Pa .Were everything is more predictabel it was the late great George Harvey who publisized this hatch as well as the trico hatch . You say you caught fish on this pattern does that mean you were fishing the hatch or were you using it for bass ?Alot of people here fish bass as we have no real trout streams around and it seems that some folks would rather do that then drive the required 1 hour drive to fish a real trout stream .Not to piss on youre parade but bass will eat any flys there is no need to tie up these cicada patterns for bass a pice of foam with rubber legs will suffice or a cigarette but if you smoke although the foam is probably cheaper than a ciggarette . As per the map it looks to me that acording to the map the hatch looks heaviest up in the Newengland area and around the poconos were most of the streams are shot by now with high temps and un fishabel I say wait another 12 years and come on up to central PAwere the streams are always fishabel and the hatches realy hapen . |

I don't know why this topic is a pissing contest. It's like when the weather man says it's going to rain tomorrow. It may rain, it may not. You just gotta get up and see what the weather is. Same here - if the bugs show up they do - if they don't fish something else. Geez - what's the fuss all 'bout.
Life is good! I started out with nothing and I still have half of it left! |

This is no pissing contest, Birky is bored that's all. No, the cicadas are not up at the lake but the tie works fine for bass and crappie. Hittin the Lehi today, betcha I find 'em there, plus the big stones should be out. If this was a pissing contest someone would be getting my special golden shower. |

Enough said about this locust thing I already fished it up in central PAa few years back.I caught some trout on it and it was no way a big phenom just another bug to fish over it is not as exciting as the green drake hatch on penns or the upper d . Anyway if you hit em God bless ya . I think its too hot to fish anyway and I am more into hunting and trapping now I got my license the other day so I am getting ready for the upcoming season and I am going to start getting my pension so I am thinking of relocating upstate or out west were the cost of living is not so high and you are not a public enemy just cause you hunt and trap . Although it will be very hard to leave this big fox population behind. We here in SE PA have the highest red fox population in the country.Anyway enough said about that and the locusts . |

I was never talking about locusts, I was talking about cicadas, you're so confused Birkenstock and that confusion leads to bad things. I would move to central Pa over Abington if possible. |
