Had a good day today @ Little Lehigh Crk, catching 3 & enjoyed the Macungie Rd section of the stream by myself.

Birky - I saw a small, dark colored animal a little larger than a weasel but shaped like one; was it a mink?

Below is a 14" Brown caught on a BH Hares Ear.

Yes most likely normaly nocturnal but it is matting season and no doubt it was a male out looking for the future Mrs Mink . BTW our alustrius game comission has seen in the best intrest to close the season on mink on january 6 just as they are reaching full prime while all our surrounding staters enjoy cathing them well into March . There is a horribel decline in the Muskrat pop and the game comission has done nothing to adress this problem . However they are continuing an active fisher program and have imported these animals from other states to heLPknock down the porcupine pop. However the muskrat pop. continues to nosedive . After a month of hard trapping I only got 9 thats bad . While jeersey and ny enjoy seasons well into march we are done at jan.6th . Why does NY and JERSEY HAVE SUCH GREAT NUMBERS OF RATS WHILE PA IS FALTERING ? I think Pa is blessed with great opptys for the outdoorsman and trappers we have one of the greatest fox densitys right here around philly to put us above montanna and other western states whAT REAL PUTS ABURR IN MY SADDEL IS THE GAME COMISSION ADRESSES EVERYBODYS CONCERNS OUTSIDE OF THE SPORTSMANS CONCERNS .Exampel if upstatters are complainig about porkys eating there picnic tabels then they import more fishers . If someone is having beaver problems on there property they go in and live trap them and relocate them instead of calling a local trapper to come out in season and trap them . All our surrounding states have seasons on Otters NY is unlimited along with virginia and we do not even have a season on otters I heard because it is pictured on the pa license plate is the main reason once again they are concerned more about there publick image than the trappers who have to turn over there ottewrs if accidently caught in beaver traps . I think they should make the hunters and trappers and fisherman of the state to hold top priority and civilians should not even enter the equasion and further more I feel there input should be ignored UNLESS THEY HOLD A TRAPPIUNG , FISHING , OR HUNTING LICENSE THESE PEOPLE SHOULD BE THEIR ONLY CONCERN AN BEDAMNED WITH THE REST . BTW i SOLD MY FURS YESTERDAY AND RECIEVED $13 FOR ONE XXXL MUSKRAT ,$11XL,$9L,$5MEDIUMS , MY fOX brought $45 , The coon brought between $5 to 20 . for a grand total of $411 . I must say thats the most I ever got for a muskrat 13 back when I last trapped in the late 70's a n average was 5 on the rats 7 for black s coons 15 forlarge heavys and fox brought in alittle more than now between 50 to 75 . It is definatly a fur boom on as of now with china buying most all goods no doubt to supply the world with more cheap labor products but they are buying most all the fur in N. America . Also there is plain to see no shortage of muskrats in other states as the buyers floor hardly had any free space left on the floor of his shop with all the muskrat pelts thousands and thousands of pelts maybe next year I too will get in on this muskrat boom and get a jersy license no shortage of rats over there as well as Maryland and delaware I guess its the tideland marshes and there wildlife people hold there trappers concern higher than non contributing civilians .
