| wELL THIS MAKES 32 YEARS AND i HAVE YET TO BAG A TURKEY .This years opener was very cold andd little gobbling activity .I had gone up to the camper last wedsday to do some scouting and hopefuly hear Mr T on the roost . I call this turkey Mr T cause he hangs out at a croosroads up in the forest or a t ergo Mr T. I did not hear Mr. T but I did spot several hens in that area . I heard a p[air of gobblers down in the same spot as last year were some guy got between me and the turkeys and was constantly owl hooting and fouled up the whole hunt . This is were I started and I heard 1 gobbler up above me he only gobbled on the roost and very sporadicly so I decided to stay put . At about 8:30 I packed up and tried some other spots on the way out of the first spot there was another guy below me and he did not call any he was using me and trying to intercept any birds that were coming my way I wonder if this was the same ahole as last year . Well thats publick hunting you have to expect this . Monday was a repeat of sat. without the other guy asnd not as cold but very little gobbling that same turkey was in the roost again gobbled once and that wasit . I congradulate the navy seals for bagging a nice longbeard maybe I should book a trip to Pakistan and bag me few longbeards . As far as the fishing the creeks were all high when I got there and after the deluge weds night they were at flood stage for the rest of ther weekend so I did not botherr with them much . Poe lake was banging and that was the place to go I flimped up lots of fiesty rainbows in the 12 to 14 inch size thwey were nice chunky fish it was good to get the pontoon boat on the water again and poe lake saved the weekend for anotherwise blown out trip . On the way home on monday I stopped at Reedsville and the home of several fine limwestoners that all merge into the Kiswaqualis Creek ,Coffee , Tea and Honey creek tyhese are all streams that have a fine head of wild Browns and the Kish ist the only one that is still astocked . I arrived and the Kish was high and muddy but the eagerness of one youngster to get at em when I was suiting up made me give Kish a try he said he caught 8 the other day on spinners when it was even higher . So I rigged up with the wooly bugger and a flymph well it was game on and I got 5 realy nice browns that bent my warclub 6 weight like a noodel I caught thes e working my way right around the 322 bridge I wondered how many people were racing overhead to get to penns creek man did they take the wrong road this is a great sdtream and more members need to try it out on there way up to Penns . This stream has all the hatches and it is stocked by the state as well as several area coops that have a derby there every year . The kish resembled penns as far as being muddy and high but it was 5 degrees warmer than penns at 55 were Penns was 50 thats what makes the thermomiter such a greast angling tool and the temp is what makes the fish bite . So now I am stuck back home again scrounging around for work so I can get back up to central pa again . I went home an other way thats about 20 miles diffrent take 81 north to 78 and then get off at 61 the cabellas exit take that to 222 which will bring you to 422 and down to king of prussia were I take the back roads thru Ambler and home and I save the 8 bucks that would go to the turnpike . |
