June Meeting Notice:

The June 22nd meeting is on ! Regular time but note, we're meeting in the room next to our regular room.
We'll have a small business meeting: topics include club elections, the clubs charter (long over due for some updating), and splitting the secretary position into two parts - newsletter and recording secretary positions.
The meeting will feature 3 or 4 club tyers each "spotlighted" one at a time, center stage, so you'll get a chance to see each of them tye. Refreshments will be extended to pizza and/or a cold-cut platter or both if we have a good reply for attendence. Please take a minute and send me an email (mike @ mainlineflytyers.net), so we have a reasonable idea how many members will be coming to the meeting.

Apr. 12, 2006 Free Lunch on the Brodhead. For members planning on fishing the Brodhead on opening day, the club will be serving a free lunch at Brodhead Park on Rt 191. Meet at the park at 1pm. Click here for directions.

Two for One: Fish Resica on Friday and the Brodhead on Saturday. A number of members will be staying at Werrys Friday night and some of us will be going up on Friday morning to fish Resica. If it fits your schedule come up a day early and look for us on the stream.

Hint from Sam: Watch for the Blue Qull - it could be the 'sleeper' fly of the day.

Apr. 11, 2006 Paraleptophlebia adoptiva (Blue Dun, Blue Quill, Iron Blue Dun, Slate-Winged Mahogany Dun). We saw a few of these last weekend at Resica Falls. I didn't have any in my box, so I thought - better tye some up for opening day. This little mayfly appears mid April to early May. It's a size 18 to size 16. Last year I began tying most of my drys with quill bodies. I looked around for a suitable quill, then on my tying table I saw some grouse tail scraps. Hmmm, the tips were a nice chocolate brown and they inspired me to try  them for the Blue Quills body.

Here's my receipe: Hook: Mustad 94840,  thread: brown, tail: medium Blue Dun, body: grouse tail tip (2 fibers twisted), wings: medium dun hen, hackle: medium dun < and some pictures >

Our esteemed past president Ed Emery had the opportunity to fish the San Juan River in New Mexico. Jump to the GALLERY to view a few pictures of  Ed fishing the "Texas Hole".

Nov. 16, 2005 TCO has opened for business at the old Eyler's shop in Bryn Mawr. Ed Emery and I (Mike Ebner) stopped by today. Nice folks (Larry, Mike and Nancy), nice shop. It looks nothing like Tom and Alice's shop. Amazing how much floor space the shop actually has now that it's been remodeled. Stay tuned - Larry said he'd host a special night for MLFT club members to visit and implied special pricing that evening for us.
Nov. 14, 2005 The December meeting will feature our first 'annual' auction. All members are eligible and encouraged to bring in any fly fishing related gear and/or tying supplies to sell at the auction. The club is asking you to donate at least one item to the 'club'. The full sale price of these items will go to the club treasury. All items for which the sale price is not fully donated to the club will be charged a 10% commission. You may set a reserve / minimum opening bid, but please make it reasonable with respect to this being an auction and not just an opportunity to present your unwanted gear 'for sale'.
Nov. 14, 2005 November's Meeting is Nov. 17th and the speaker will be Don Douple.
Sep. 26, 2005 OCTOBER MEETING REMINDER !  The Oct. meeting is the 3rd Wednesday, (not Thursday) Oct. 19th. The guest speaker will be Chuck Furimsky, the originator of Bugskin and Fishskin. Chuck's show is titled "Pass the Salt Please". The show is geared toward freshwater fly fishers making the transition to salt water fishing. The show is in time for those interested in trying fall striper runs along the New Jersey shore.

Chuck will be doing the show and a tying demonstation. He will also have his Bugskin & Fishskin available for purchase.

Sep. 13, 2005 The September Meeting Door Prizes were supplied by French Creek Outfitters just outside of Phoenixville. Not only did they discount our purchases but also donated over $100's in additional items. Next time you're out that way be sure to drop in and check out their Fly Fishing Department. Thanks to French Creek Outfitters and Jeff Nissle, the store manager.
Sep. 13, 2005 The September 2005 newsletter is published and available. Just click here NewletterSep05 . Randy has been trying to mail it for a couple days without success. If you're an email guru, please talk with Randy at the meeting, perhaps you can help him figure out the problem and better yet - fix it, to avoid problems mailing it next month.
