My Drift

After reading through my instructions, and hopefully understanding my thoughts on how I developed my patterns -  keep in mind, in the pursuit of big wild fish on large water like the Upper Delaware, while yes its great to have the right fly,  you won't always be able to get close enough to reach them.  Please take the time to practice and improve your casting skills.

Putting the fly on the water, in the right place, at the right time, with the proper drift is an important part of successful fly fishing. In most cases when you do spot one of those big guys feeding there's no messing around, you need to be quick to get the fly where it needs to be with precision. You may only get one shot. So, distance and complete accuracy is a real key in getting the big guys to take.

If you have a passion for big wild Trout as I do, hang in there a little into dark and instead of going back to camp just talking about the big one you couldn't reach  you just may come back with some photos like these. Your time and effort will pay off.

( Special thanks to my good friend Ray Miller for the casting and fish photos )

The Delaware River

If  you look hard, you’ll find me in one of the big majestic pools on The River. Sometimes  I’m alone, or with a buddy, quietly watching and listening to what the trout have to tell me. When they are done talking, I’m fishing.

 Thanks, Sam    <*)))><
