Tuesday morning I had a pleasant surprise waiting for me in my coyote trap . As I crested the last rise on the old farm rd that leads up the high mt meadow there dancing around was a very pissed off and quite large Bobcat tom . This was my first Bobcat e ver in my last trap to check for the day realy kool . After the initial elation I came down to earth I had a big job on my hands as Bobcats are not in season till Dec. 19th so I had to release it with my 4' snare pole so the daNCE BEGUN . I carefuly approached the cat and noticed he was firmly held across the pad next was getting the loop over his head and tightening as not to crush his windpipe but also tight enough so he could not slip out after several attemps I finaly got a good hold on him next I stetched his trap leg out taught and pined him to the ground the front end was safe but those back feet are also loaded with those razor claws.Next I slowly reached down and opened the trap jaws as I pulled the trap off his foot . I now had him in just the snare this is when I broke out my 22 pistol . I now had a cat in a snare pole in one hand and the pistol in the other . I talked real nice to old Tom and thanked him for the lovely waltz and reminded him if he had any notion of getting even I would give him whatfor with the 22 . Now that we were downright cordial I bid old Tom adew and let off the slack of the snare . You might of thought old Tom had waltz with the devil himself the way he hightailed out of there . IT WAS NO DOUBT MY FINEST HOUR ON THE TRAPLINE TO DATE . Today I caught me a possum and I always release them they aint worth skinning youl only get like 2 bucks for them but releasing them is like removing a wet sock from the trap nothing like a Tomcat . Trapping like a box of choclates you never know what youre gonna get. Born American and a free Trapper by God .

Dang Berky, You need to get a video camera to tape these. This would have been a hoot to watch.
