Iwas adaytripper aoneway ticket yeah yeah yeah and itwas alright yeah yeah yeah . Bad enough to read you should hear me sing it I was told by my monsenior that if I sang in church again I would be excomunicated . Anyway SAT last Drywadres and I headed up to the poho for an evening trip hopefuly to intercept a nice hatch . It was not to be I missed 1 fish with a big cdc quill gordon and that was it for the whole time . I brought my 5 weeight and did not try weighted nymphs but I did some swinging with various flymphs and wets to no avail Dry man did not due any better . The lack of action has me pondering many questions like what happened to all those little natives that fight to get hooked plus the absence of spooked fish I did not see any . Anyhow thats the first time I CAN REMEMBER EVER GETTING SKUNKED ON THE PO ANY WAY WE LANDED AT TACO BELL FOR SOME GOOD FILL .So it was not a total loss .
Sunday Ken Mayall called me out of my bed to see if I wanted to go up to the broadhead . I have almost wrote the broadhead off but I thought maybe Ken could show me something to change my thoughts . After all Ken is a regular up there and I was realy impressed with his knowlege of the stream and all the spots he knows and sorry but thats all I can say about that I was sworn to secracy . The morning was very slow and the cold temps made it feel more like March than the end of April and I thought here we go again another dud day on the Broadhead but Ken assured me that the hatch was coming and I believed him . So the perscribed hour came and left and still no bugs we reconoiterd a few times and ended up at a nice riffel at the head of a big pool and sure enough the hatch was in full swing here and the fish were all in a feeding mood . Ken also stated these fish are all wild or holdover and I believed him he statred catching some and they were realy colorful browns with all there equipment in tact . I missed several and a few got off on my emerger pattern I now use with a shrimp hook and foambubel wing pad and parachute hackel a deadly fly that floats flat and you can see it real good cause of the foam bubble . I saw areal brute rising on the far side he was in a bad spot for a good drift due to all the difrent curents but after about 3 casts I put it on him good you Know when you get a good cast in that a rise is sure to follow so I made ready as the fly went into his window and wham he nailed it and I knew he was a good one when he rolled on the fly he had some shoulders to him I kept him tight and he still did run yet they always seem to do this till you get them on the reel then they run and he took off across the creek and I slowly turned him he slugged it out on the bottom and then he gave in he was a real beauty probably 17 or 18 and all colored up the nicest fish so far this year .A big thanks to Ken Mayall for taking a poor orphan boy up the pocys and showing me some great water . And thanks again for the netjob I would have surely missed a nice fish if you did not net him . Thursday night I am going up to my trailer to open it up I have to get some work done on my truck then I am going up I hope to get in some turkey hunting and fishing but with all the rain coming Penns will be blown out I will have to fish the pond till it recedes .

The fish move in the Po, if they're not where they usually are go where they usually aren't. I like the Brodhead , not in town but above and below the park. Have fun at the trailer, I'm headed out to McKean county with a buddy for the weekend to see some new water for me, my favorite thing to do.
