Alright, The grannoms were present in good numbers and the fish were cooperating
Image Insert:
162.15 KB I like to fish wets and happened to have a tie that I use in the poconos that matches the grannoms, dark body and dun wing, and the fish took 'em when I showed it to them. The trophy trout section is not stocked directly and over 3 miles long so there's plenty of room to spread out and find fish. Friday evening we stayed close to the bridge and found risers to the caddis.
Image Insert:
140.54 KB Saturday we drove over the mountain to the middle section and covered plenty of water but didn't get into many until after lunch.

148.01 KB Rich got the nicest one I saw on a dry so I tried that for a while to no avail, I came to my senses and put some soft hackles on and was immediately into fish.

169.2 KB We drove back to catch a possible spinner fall on a little run I walked to on Friday which had a lot of potential
Image Insert:
146.91 KB Not the prettiest from this picture, but the ingredients were all there for a good evenings fishing: caddis and Hendrickson spinners were all over and, like clockwork, after hitting it hard for an hour with not a one between us we all hooked up within a minute of each other and caught a bunch of head shakers until dark.

128.55 KB The number of fish in this stream is impressive and with a little knowledge and some bug detective work some beautiful specimens were brought to hand. I could see myself living here in another lifetime, there's hundreds of miles of fertile water and plenty of open areas to try your luck. The Feathered hook is a nice place to meet up at the end of the day, even if the owner is a bit of an enigma, and we had a few nice club breakfasts before heading out for the day. If you're reading this you're in the club so take advantage of the trips we put together, you'll find someone to fish with if that's what you want, or you can explore like some do. See ya on the water. |

Ihave been fishing Penns since 1978 we used to crash in the old congo tent at Poe Paddy for 3 bucks a night . I have no idea what it is now but it can get pretty nuts down there on the big weekends we had lots of great fishing right out in front of the campground and never fished anywere else . Nowadays I upgraded to a camper and do alot of floating on Penns there are alot more yuppys today than back then and lots of out of staters mostly folks from Ohio and Elk creek is closed and it changed names It is realy Pine creek and you used to be abel to fish the whole thing it was a great stream to go to when Penns was too high .I would say that the trout realy start looking up and taking drys after the drake hatch and I have caught them on the drake 2weeks after the hatch was over it proves to be a good searching pattern all summer . Anybody who would walk to Ingelby is truly comitted or maybe should be comitted thats along way to go for a few fish I took a nice 18 " rainbow right there were Pine creek goes in . You guys should try floating some time I do a mile and walk back to get my truck you can make it last as long as you want as there is alot af varied water for dry fly or wets and it will saver youre legs . |
