John Jungers and I went up to the broadhead Sat for stick day I gonna start calling it suck day . O f course the water was way up after all the rain friday night but what suprised me was that the water was not muddy . O n the way up I was watching all the little tribs and big creeks on the way up and they were all choclate even the little ditches draining crop fields . When we reached Mcmikes by 80 it was blown out and choclate as well as pocono creek . We stopped by stokes ave and it was way up but not muddy we saw Jerry Higgins and Wayne and they said the other guys went down the moose so we went down there I suited up and rigged up with nymphs John stayed back awhile and organized his stuff . As I was walking in the boys were coming out and they said they all caught but no hatches I fised behind the moose till 4 and caught 1 sucker15" and a dink brown about 5" John came down about an hour after I got there and caught a 10"brown on a sanjuan worm any way with every trip to the broadhead the more I want to fish elsewere definatly not what it was a few years ago before the floods .I always caught fish there only anothe 15 minutes up the road and you can be on the Bushkill definsatly my favorite of the 2 .
It's tradition, I get it, and I just finished repairing two bamboos. First one needed a new reel seat, had a plastic HI type and I put on a NOS metal one, looks sweet. The other one I bought off the widow, a 7' pocono creek that I just reglued the female ferrule on. I like a cheap fishable 7' bamboo, what can I say.
As much as some people critisize the private clubs they have protected the headwaters of the Brodhead for years and thats why it still runs clear even with high water. Also they are the source of the wild fish that get caught every so often.
I heard the Henryville club folded up and the russian mob was filming pornos in the club house . L ets see maybe they called it the big rod and the nymph or olga and her big bottom release 2nymphs and a dozen flys .
