I wondering if anyone is willing to teach me to tie flyes. I sually work at night so its hard for me to get to the meetings or even the tying class any help would be appreciated

| You can teach yourself the first thing to learn are how to use the tools the whip finisher is the hardest just practice on as bare hook with some black 8/0 thread when you feel comfotabel try ANOTHER TOOL LIKE HACKEL PLIERS WIND SOME HACKEL ON THE BARE HOOK . After you feel comfortabel try to tie afly the esiest fly is the brown hackel peacock . Tie it on a # 10 or 8 wetfly hook 1xlong I like a mustad 3906b or the daichi 1560 or wahatever there comparison is to the 3906b start with a 10 and work down as you feel comfortabel . 1st tie in a good bunch of peacock herl above the hook point wrap the herl forward tie it off then tie in a brown wetfly hackel by the stem after you clean off the fluff at the base take youre hackel pliers and make 3 wraps of hackel tie it off and whip finish a nice small head and you are now on youre way to becoming an acomplished fly tyer . There are also alot of videos you can purchase and watch and learn but keep youre patterns simpel and stay with the wingless wets or flymphs they are the easiest to tie as well as fish . |

Scott, welcome to the wonderful world of fly fishing!  Fly tying may seem to be overwhelming @ first but w/a little practice, it is fun.  And there is nothing more exciting than catching your first trout (or other game fish) on a fly that you made!!! 
Assuming that you have some basic tools & materials, as a beginner I recommend an excellent paperback book, "Orvis Fly Tying Guide". It is available from Amazon.com (cheaper than @ fly shop or book store) and has some basic info (tools, materials, hooks, etc) plus step-by-step pictures of tying some common flies (streamers, nymphs, emergers, dry flies & saltwater flies).  If you are not familiar w/flies,
order a free fly fishing catalog (Cabelas is good) that shows the various categories plus equipment. Hint: when first tying flies, use a larger hook than the recipe calls for (say a #12 instead of a #16) until you are more experienced. 
The internet is another free source of info. To get recipes (components for the fly) & tying procedures, GOOGLE the fly name, followed by fly pattern. Examples are: "hares ear fly pattern", "copper john fly pattern", "elk hair caddis fly pattern", etc. Sometimes the instructions are on video, which shows
the metod of tying a specific fly. 
Although it is too late for attending the club's fly tying classes, you may want to try the above techniques until the Fall, when the club's lessons begin again. 
Lastly, you SHOULD attend the club's "Learn to Fly Fish Day" @ Ressica Falls (Poconos) on April 6th; there will not be any fly tying demos but you can learn a lot about fly fishing that day, including fishing the Big Bushkill Creek. Try it, you'll like it.

I cant get to the classes cause it conflicts with my work schdule. Which is why I was looking for someone who can help outside of the classes.
I check some fo the internet and got tired but not sure what i am doign wrong.
hence the post.
