Well / guess who got another Grouse over the Holiday week ?
ok - don't guess. It was me. Me and Zach climbed the mountain in the snow to one of my best spots where me and (PD) Ray have blasted a lot of shot on missed birds into the air over the years but it paid off this day. We missed 3 and I got one and what a shot it was.
Like a bolt of lighting through the heavy trees & cover. All I could see was a speck of feathers, raised up, shot & down he went. The one in a million shot like you see on TV. It was so quick. Zach did have his gun up and a bead on him, but never took the shot and in a split second I had it. He just shook his head in disbelief.
Zack or myself still can't believe it. One for the books. Then to top that off it took us about 15 minutes to find it.. Lucky for me the bird was not dead and while I was crawling around looking for it, it flapped it wings and I seen him or I may never of found it, But we did find it.
Pop got one up on him this day. I do miss a lot of them but the lesson here is you got to be quick to get these little bastards.
The season is open into Feb. Who wants to try it again. Call me.
