I was driving south on the 309 raceway last Friday and the staties were everywhere. It was about 4:30 and I was dragging my trailer home after work trying to obey the speed limit, minding my own business. I get past rte 73 and sure enough an unmarked trooper is behind me with his lights on. Now, I'm in the left lane so people from the turnpike and 73 can enter and doing about 58 mph so I'm thinking WTF! He says gimme your license blah blah blah and I can't find mt current reg because we changed insurance and they needed a photocopy but I had the previous 5 YEARS. So he says do you know why I pulled you over and I say no and he says you were driving in the left lane and under statute # blah blah blah it is illegal and I'll have to give you a citation. I give him the evil eye but i know when to zip it and he goes back to his cruiser and I start steaming. I talking to my guy and I said where's my state police hat? I worked for a trooper and he gave me an official ball cap type hat with the statie logo and trooper badge and i found it in my truck and we're laughing and I put it on and i says I wonder what he'll do? He comes back and starts his speil and says I have two things for you and finally looks at me and says where'd you get that hat I didn't see that before and I says from my buddy the trooper and he says who and I tell him his name and his jaw drops and he says wait right here as if I'm going somewhere. The next part is beyond belief, He comes back 2 minutes later and says step out of you vehicle and come back here so I go and he says he's my buddy and said you're a good guy so I'M GOING TO RESCIND THIS TICKET BUT I HAVE TO GIVE YOU THIS WARNING ABOUT THE REGISTRATION HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND. It blew my mind he already entered it but was gonna make it disappear all because I put a hat on. We laughed all the way home.Unbelieveable. |

Good story with a good outcome. Too bad the hat isn't of this style. You'd look good on-the-stream wearing one of these
