Last April I bought Scientific Anglers textured GPX fly line. It has small, round dimples on the surface, similiar to a golf ball. Have not noticed any performance difference when compared to a conventional fly line, except it makes a soft, zinging sound when passing through the eyelets. See the following for more information.

Anything that reduces friction will aid in casting. I use this type line and see the difference in distance and accuracy compared to other lines. You still seem to be wound a little tight there Ed,looking at your red notes whatever works for ya.
