Hit the Brodhead yesterday in two sections. first was new to me, almost down to Delaware but not quite. Got on the water about noon and found some nice riffles and pools, mix of rainbows and browns , lost more than I landed. Ended the day at the evergreen, big news is they have opened the parking lot and the golf course looks great, it's reverting to a meadow complete with herds of deer. Saw the largest drakes I've ever seen along with the first sulfers and a few caddis, once again stung a bunch but ldr'ed 'em all. I'm heading back with new flies this week before the temps soar even more. I'll take some pics if I remember my camera. duh.

Nicely done Chris. Really like that pic in the golf course.

Life is good! I started out with nothing and I still have half of it left!

I love it when a plan comes together. I have a couple more trips to report on but I'll leave with this last thought for tonight- Get out there and do it while you can, the time will come when you have to fish the kiddie pools and concrete ponds. Have a great summer.

But back to the beginning, which was the end of the day and my favorite run, the first one I fished in the early spring and where I got the refusal on the drake. I set up camp right before dusk and was prepared to make my stand but with the right bug at the right time and the right drift it all came together.

What could be better than a golf course gone to seed? I have seen a herd of deer and some foxes and groundhogs in addition to the eels and very few humans, I would be here every day if possible.

One of the coolest and slightly freakiest things I've come across.

The fishing is just right, carelessness will get you the skunk and one cast is all you get, or need, if you get too close.

I saw what I assumed were fish tailing and grubbing for nymphs at the head of a riffle so I approached carefully swinging wets the whole way. Nothing happening, so I snuck close enough to see four very large eels preparing a redd to deposit eggs. I took a movie of it and it's fascinating watching them move rocks with their mouths.

I am just this side of computer illiterate, so bear with me.

I picked up fish all day on different patterns but my Iso seemed to rule the day, especially in the deeper pools. Stoneflies were already out but in a size 12 or so nymph, they'll get larger as the season progresses and I actually saw a dun flying around, most unusual in the daytime but there are some beautifully wooded areas in shade all day.

I really like this place. I was caught off guard under a bridge and lost an absolute monster, when he broke me off as I was looking for a foot hold, I know where he lives. The bug life is prolific and hopefully the water has enough springs to keep it coolish, still a better spot for early morning or the magic hour before dark

Just got back from a quick run to New Hampshire and the search for cold water and found the Baker, he is well and still fishing hard but that's for another thread altogether, this is to finish what I started on the Brodhead. I came back from the last trip noted above and tied some new flies to match the Brown Drakes which were coming off and the closest dry I had was a gold/yellow Stimulator which was getting refused after some long looks.

It did not get refused, but I'm jumping ahead of myself. My plan was to fish up until I got to signage forbidding my passage but the funny thing is I never saw any, maybe because I was on the water , I don't know, but I walked a good long way and found some true pocono wild trout water. Here is where I would insert another picture but it won't let me.
