Friday last I took the journey up tp my cousins in N jersey to fish the musky . I had promised her daughter I would come up on her spring vacation and show her a few things . Unfortunatly the Musky was quite high and cold 50 degrees and it was rippin the rest of the river was closed due to a stocking day this is something they do in Jersey I guess to prevent a mob of truck followers . I think it is a good idea and you are allowed to fish these waters after 5 pm I guess to give the fish time to get aclamated to the water . We got thourughly skunked and I am not going to write it off I like Macarthur shall return . THERE ARE SEVERAL OF jERSEYS BLUE RIBBON STREAMS IN THAT AREA MUSCANECTCONG , S BRANCH RARITAN and the famous Ken Lockwood Gorge area the Big Flatbrook to name a few . tHE LOCALS WE RAN INTO ON THE STREAM CLAIM THERE ARE LOTS OF TROUT IN THE RIVER AND IT FISHS BETTER LATER IN THE SEASON OR WHEN THE WATER DROPS SOME . Yesterday at Easter dinner my cousin was there and I showed her husband how to get on the usgs gauge and he will now know when to fish these streams . I also lent them my 2 favorite flyfishing /trout books what I refer to as the Bibels old testiment and new testiment ,"no blastfming intended ". These 2 boooks are George Harveys trout fishing techniques [OLd Testiment]and Joe Humphreys Trout techniques [New Testiment]. Both cover a subject that is seldom coverd yet most important temparature so now they can read and learn .
