Posted - 04/21/2017 : 10:44:35 Spring time has arrived in Centre county finally. The granoms are realy on at penns but just hovering I believe they are hatching sporadicly. I have not seeing any steady risers they say the hendricksons are on as well as quill gordons Ihave not seeing any . The streams are perfect with a tinge but not muddy .I have been on the hunt for a new vehicle and finaly scored with a Mitsubishi outlander I can really blend with all the yuppys now all I need is one of those bigg phones with all the gagets and ill be right in the yuppy club . I am keeping the f150 it will serve me well as good trapping wagon the ole redrocket has 29000 on her and shell be mothed balled till trapping season I would like to overhaul her with maybe a valve job and a timing belt I believe it will be a lot cheaper than a new engine plus plugs and wires wich are a hundred apiece . I have been designing a few new streamers 1 is called the Johny Reb wich is a grey fly tied in the Ragely lAKES fashion it is not to be confused with the grey ghost I caught a small brown on it at penns at the hippy hole . I will divulge the other patterns as they develop and proven . I will tell of the ones that are tied so far Trout Dog yellow and brown , Coburn Hooker orange and magenta , Bellfonte Hooker pink and red . I have a few more designed but not tied I am waiting for some materials that are being dyed they will be the Kish of Death for kish creek ,Penns creek ghost , Spring creek Ghost , and last but not least the Goblin . All of these flies will be tied in the rangely style with lots of componets and real jungelcock cheeks and truly old school . I had my 1st guest last weekend .Ricky Gioquindo came up for opening day we started in downtown Bellfonte at the new waterfront park we had the whole place to ourselves but the fishing was poor I fished streamers and Ricky nymphed we both got skunked .This stretch has been getting hamered day and night since it opened up so the fish are well educated .After a high water event and the water is not too muddy you can have a shot at some of the 3 footers that are the pets of the park and well fed by the tourists I believe some feed gets washed out of the bottom and the fish follow it downstream . I once fished to a rising palamino in the 30 inch range that appeared to be midging after trying like a dozen different flies I seigned the water surface and netted several cherios the cherio hatch was in full swing and this fish was rising just like it was eating small noseeums .However I did not have any cherio patterns at the time . Funny yes but I do not know any were in Pa were you can have so many huge lunkers in one spot . Any way later in the afternoon we went back to Penns and fished till dark Imissed e few but Ricky caught 3 on a caddis dry. Although the fishing was slow we ate good with breakfast at the gunclub and dinner from the Yoders chicken shack . But despite the slow fishing it was great to have a visitor any body in the club is welcomed to come up and stay any time you just need an airmatress or a cot I also just had a load of firewood deliverd for camp fires so come on up whenever you want just call my cell 267 7509610 . Till next time .
