I am still up here living the dream . I am still getting gigs at the Penn State University in the janitorial dept. this work allows me to earn some extra coin and still get my pension . Everything is good if I survive this cold front from hell it will be eutopic . The trapping up here is sucky Iam sure there are some fox around but I did not catch any I went back to my house in Abington over thanksgiving and and Christmas about 10 days all told and caught 13 fox 2 coon 2 beavers the trapping is definatly better down there . Up here I caught some muskrats and 1 beaver I think there is a learning curve as to various locations and maybe retooling for coyotes and greyfox in other words trapping in a more wildernesss setting as opposed to agricultural as these 2 are more shy of humans and prefer a more wild setting like forests and so forth there is also a stellar population of mink up here but due to the low fur prices I did not see the reason to go full boar after them wich will leave more for next year . The coons are also plentiful but I believe the cold weather up here puts them in early hibernation as I have seen no roadkills in months . Next year I am going to retool and concentrate on whats available mink coon muskrats coyotes and greyfox . As far as fishing Penns creek is froze solid with 4"of snow on top temps have been below zero at night for 2 weeks so I am not in a fishing mood but I have begun to tie some flies as I am going to sell some as a sideline as well as my leaders I plan on advertising and maybe hanging out a shingle on rt 45 simple flys that catch fish . Any way I am going to write this trapping season off as a learning experience and a dues payer we all have to pay our dues to reach success . I am looking to the spring and am anxious to get fishing I hope some of you guys come up to see me I can show you the best streams in the great state of Pennsylvania along with over 30 years of fishing them all pray for spring and come on up see you all in the future and God Bless you all .

I am back in Abington for the week but compared to Coburn it feels like Miami . The weekend before I came home we had temps down below 0 for three weeks it would have been tough for brass monkeys Imean it was the coldest ihave ever experianced but the good lord was on my side and the old red rocket carried back and forth over to the university without fail despite an odomiterof 240000 . Anyway Ill be around for the rest of the week cleaning my house getting ready to put it up onb the market .It will no doubt be a short sale cause it so far under water so this agent Ipicked IS A PRO AT SHORT SALES BUT i WANT TO MAKE SURE THE OLD BACHELOR PAD IS SOMEWHAT PRESENTABEL .I got it somwere between a Oscar Madison pad and a somewhat orderly crack house I am sure this guy has seen worse AND i WORKED IN LOTS OF SECTION 8 HOUSES AND MY PLACE IS NOWERE NEAR ANY OF THEM MOSTLY CLUTTER AND I threw alot of that out today . If anybody is intrested in a cute little rancher 2 bedroom at the end of a dead end street with the briar bush nature center next door stop by and set an apointment with the realator it should be listed by the weekend . I may stop in the flytying classes thurs night and if I can hook a ride with Greg Hoover maybe Ill come to the april meeting see you all this thusday . It was great to see some of the guys at the calvary show sat and I am realy liking those new t shirts I am going to have to get one maybe thurs night see ya then .

Birky! Glad you didn't freeze solid and you found a way to get by.
If I could move anywhere it would be in that neck of the woods, I'll be sure to get ahold of you when I head out to Penn's this year. I'll buy you dinner and you can tell me stories like Baker does.

Steve - good to hear from you. Seems you're getting started in your new location. Holy cats - you trapped 13 fox in a short visit 'back home'. Wow - must really be over run with 'predators' in Abington.

Rocketman has the Coburn trip setup for June 5 thru 7th. The Upper-D trip is the previous weekend. But since I'm not much into sleeping in a tent and don't have my small camper anymore I'll probably do the Coburn trip.

Hope to see you then.

Life is good! I started out with nothing and I still have half of it left!
