Posted - 11/25/2015 : 20:22:00 As you all may or may not know raw fur prices have dropped to all time lows . With coons being the most undesirabel items on the market . This stems mostly on Russia who have always bought the gray furs Coon, GrayFox , etc. . But now with all the political uproar over the Ukrane and the ever shrinking rubel,33 cents to our dollar . Among this and other factors Russia is just not in the market right now and the future looks bleak . The big auction houses up in Canada have a million coon pelts in storage with nobody to buy them plus small country buyers are sitting on tons of coon pelts there just is not a market for them . This being said its not prudent to trap the coon on purpose . The buyers are saying release the small ones and only take the jumbos ,that would be 15 lbers and up . Releasing small coons is like opening the gates of hell . This weekend past I caught me a doubel on coon that got into my mink sets about 10' apart .They are very diffacult to get on a snare pole and release real squirmy . I got the one all ciched up and released him he swam to the other side of Penns creek and scampered up the bank .Coon 2 was a little more noisy after I got noose on he comenced to go off like a siren squaking and squeling but the job was done he too swam across Penns creek . Anyway this how is how I roll.
