I have been preparing all sumer for trapping season .Making dirt wich was a daily chore mixing the dirt on the drying board out back . O n a good hot day I could get 10 gallons a day now with the colder days it takes like 3 days to get 5 gallons but I will keep making it until freeze up . I use this dry dirt at my predator sets to burry my trap under for concealment the bait/lure is applied in front of the trap usualy with some type of backing to guide the critter into the trap . I have also been getting permission over in the next vally called brush vally the origin of elk creek it is a more narrower vally wich allows predators closer cover to the mountain sides were they can sleep and then its a short distance to the vally floor and hunting grounds .It is a butiful vally especialy now with the gorgeous fall colors . I am going to start this sunday setting in the one place is on a mt top in Clinton county and the owner has complaints of coon and coyotes I will set for both . Another spot I have is a thousand acre farm were I prepared about a dozen locatiomns . The rest are all amish farms that will not let me in on sundays but I prepared spots on a few of them as well they will be set on Monday one is right along the headwaters of elk creek a more butiful place I can not imagine . I still have a little bit of work to do mostly packing up stuff and getting my fur handling stuff ready and cleaned . The traps are ready to be planted in the ground as a farmer would plant seeds but instead of fruit and vegtabels I am going to grow coyotes ,fox and coon as well as any other critter worth cash money when skuned and dried . I was born American and a free trapper by GOD .
